About This Production
Echoes of Machismo is a thought-provoking stage play by Derrick Waswa that explores the destructive effects of toxic masculinity and deeply entrenched cultural expectations. Through the dynamics of relationships and societal power structures, the play exposes how men are conditioned to equate masculinity with dominance, aggression, and emotional suppression. Ultimately, the play calls for a fundamental redefinition of masculinity, advocating for empathy, mutual respect, emotional intelligence, and accountability. Echoes of Machismo invites audiences to question inherited beliefs, confront harmful behaviors, and embrace a society where equality, dignity, and peaceful coexistence define human relationships.
